Those were the words in the Christmas radio transmission of German broadcast 1942 , 65 years ago .
At that time, just when the attempt to release
the army in the pocket from outside had failed , I was in Rostov/Don , on my way back
into the pocket ...

Today, we survivors remember the sacrifice of
all the comrades who had a very sad Christmas
1942 inside Stalingrad pocket .

The barber on post in Babenhausen in the early 70's was also a Stalingrad survivor. He didn't say much. I was stationed there, in Babenhausen from 72-74.

Again it is Christmas and I send my best wishes to all board-readers .
May the suffering of the soldiers from both sides never be forgotten !

Was on line this afternoon and found a shore article about a German and Russian who both fought at Stalingrad in the winter of '43. It was more than moving. Can't find any more yet. By the way, I've started the Gantz triolgy on the battle. It is MASSIVE!
